MISSOULA- Federal court documents relating to former Montana Grizzlies quarterback Jason Washington were recently unsealed and those documents seem to show Washington was willing to bribe law enforcement and politicians.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Montana told us on Tuesday that the search warrant affidavits in relation to an ongoing Missoula drug distribution investigation were unsealed by mistake.
Federal agents raided several former medical marijuana businesses late last year, including Missoula's Big Sky Health, which was run by former Griz quarterback Jason Washington. In those raids, agents seized marijuana-related items and thousands of dollars.
The Associated Press reports federal agents monitored Washington's communications before raiding his and other medical marijuana businesses in November. The AP said Washington tried finding a way to bribe local and federal law enforcement without getting caught and that he discussed bribing state politicians as a way of getting new laws favorable to the industry.
Just to reiterate, the federal documents accusing Washington of trying to bribe politicians and law enforcement were inadvertently unsealed. They were re-sealed and federal prosecutors say they will not make any comments on the documents at this time.
