MISSOULA- You can learn a lot about a person by what they eat and in Kim Olson's Spanish class at Meadow Hill Middle School students are learning about an entire culture by how they feed themselves.
CEO of Allegiance Benefit Plan Management. Dirk Visser and Montana's News Station General Manager Bob Hermes presented Kim Olson with the $250 check.
She will use the money for cooking ingredients and cooking supplies for her Spanish class and at some point, all 400 plus students make their way into the kitchen to put their knowledge to the test.
Olson says her students love the hands on aspect of cooking and they are picking up an appreciation for cultures outside of their own.
"Cooking days, kids are so anxious to come to class. They love coming to class, it makes learning relevant. You just learn a lot about life and the world and other cultures and it makes you a richer, smarter person," Olson explained.
